How can I stop my puppy from peeing in the house at night,kennel is out of the question, help?

Answers:
Get up at least 5 or 6 times at night and take him outside to pee. Take away the water dish for the night or leave him outside.

kennel is the best - but since it's not an option:
No water after say 8pm, and take him/her out to pee before bedtime. Give water first thing in the morning, and again, take him/her out to pee.

really the only thing u can do if u cant supevise him the whole time is put him in a really small space, if it cant be a kennel, then u need to make a confined area outta baby gates or something. if a dog has too large of an area to go in, then he can use the bathroom somewhere and then sleep somewhere else. dogs dont like to use the bathroom in their "bed".

if a kennel is not an option.. try a laundry basket over a doggie bed. its almost like a kenenel just watch out your puppy might push it off but usually they wont

Why is a kennel out of the question? I know it sounds terrible, but most dog like it. Mine goes right in his kennel to sleep of his own accord. It is his comfort at dog shows which can be stressful, and a place for him to be by himself when he wants to. If you really feel bad about a kennel, you could use a child's playpen.

well i don't think i can answer it but if you are sleeping let him sleep in the restroom so you just have to clean it up in the morning at least it is not in an clean parts of the house.

Can you tell us why a kennel is out of the question?
It really is your best bet in house training.
It's not mean, it's not cruel. It's the best way to keep your house from getting chewed up and used for a restroom.

Confine the puppy at night to a small area of the house (bathroom, kitchen) - use a baby gate to keep puppy in the small area. Place a sock or shirt in the small area with your scent on it - this way your puppy won't feel left alone and will rest more peacefully while you are able to rest.

Just make sure you take him out last thing at night and first thing in the morning. Keep some of those puppy training pads by the door he goes out through so he can use them while you are sleeping. I know it can be a pain, but try to hear him when he goes to those pads and let him out. But the pads will be there just in case. As he gets older he'll be able to go more hours without having to pee, his bladder needs to mature and grow just like he does. And if he wakes you or tries to get your attention during the night, pay attention and take him out. A lot of people wake up at least once during the night to let their dog ou. Try not giving water two hours before you go to bed. Take him/her out after last drink of the night and then before your bed time. If this does not work try those new puppie pads. They can go to the bathroom on them and it does not leak through to your floor. It also has a scent to attract them to go there and potty. Good Luck and Congrats on your new addition.

I had a puppy who must have had the smallest bladder in the world, she always peed in the house. She needed to pee every hour. I had to cut off water around 6:30 or 7:00 PM, and take her out at 8, 9:30 and 11. I'd always make sure she peed the last time i took her out.

Puppies like being confined when they sleep, and will not pee in their own area. If they are in a crate with enough room to lie down, there shouldnt be a problem. Your puppy will need to pee around 6 AM, but should do well at night.

(With proper 'water training' my puppy is totally housetrained! Finally!)

Well the vet said that if the puppy is less than 6 months old they have no control over it meaning they cant hold it in. So maybe you could put on some diapers on him at night time and during the day try to potty train them. I never had that problem with my puppy for some reason he was already potty trained at 4 months he would cry when he needed to go outside. Yeah go buy some little shorts you buy at the pet store and it comes with little pads that you slide in the inside for puppies or dogs on heat. That should do the trick. You could also take away his water a few hours prior to going to bed. You can try to take him outside before going to sleep and taking him outside first thing on the morning.

You HAVE to get a kennel. YES it does seen mean, BUT they need it, if he/she is going to be quite big when she gets older then put a box in it and then he/she will not pee. Wait until they are fully house broken to not use a kennel
