how can i tell when my dauchshunds is ready to have her puppies is there any sings that ican look for.?

Hi, how many days along is she. Dogs whelp approximately 62 days after mating. But it can be a few days longer, depending on when they ovulate. She will start to "nest" in her blankets, whelping box, etc. Her temperature will drop to approx. 98.1. When this happens she'll have puppies withing 24 hours. You will see the puppies "drop" in her belly, her spine may even protrude more. She will also loose her mucous plug, but that can be up to a week before she whelps. She will also start panting when the first stage of labor begins.

gestation is 56-60 days. she will start nesting, anxious, restless, wanting to hide, she will pant a lot, and if her temp has dropped to about 98 or so, it's probably going to be in the next 12-24 hrs. Generally. Sometimes labor can last up to 36 hrs. You may need to help her, and if she seems like she's having any trouble, dont hesitate to call your vet, or emergency vet if it is after hours. You may want to have an x-ray performed the day after to make sure there aren't any pups left. That can tend to cause problems!!
