I have a 7 month old basset hound i bought yesterday and have never trained a pet before so im wondering how to do so now before i make any mistakes. We keep the dog in the house and I want him to #@%$ on a tray i laid down for him. Any ideas?

as a basset owner, I can tell you that potty training a b.h. puppy is very difficult, with a 7 month old puppy it will be more so.
As far as getting your dog to crap on a tray.you'd probably have better luck teaching it to drive your car, or vaccum the floor.it is not going to happen. why don't you let it outside.even fat slow dogs need exercise.
It is possile to litter train your dog.
