How to calculate the amount of daily home prepared dog food?

I have 6 months old samoyed puppy

First of all you're spoiling the hell out of him, and how long are you going to be able to keep this process up? I'm thinking all dog food has a feeding chart on the bag as a guideline. But your dog won't eat it unless you give him some meat mixed in or on the side.
Try the link below for a sampling of ingredients and amounts to mix for home cooked dog food meals. There is a link on the page to purchase an inexpensive cookbook that will tell you more about feeding the dog and the amount to feed him, etc.

For dry %26 canned food, these are some listed guidelines:

Weight of dog wet %26 dry - wet only
Dogs under 10 lbs --1/2 can + 1/4 cup -- 1/2 - 1 can
10 - 20 --- 1 can + 1/3 cup ---- 1 - 2 cans
20 - 40 --- 1 1/2 cans + 2/3 cup --- 2 - 3 cans
40 - 60 --- 2 1/2 cans + 3/4 cup -- 3 - 4 cans
60 - 80 --- 3 1/2 cans + 1 cup ---- 4 - 5 cans
80 - 100 - 4 cans + 1 1/2 cups -- 5 - 6 cans

Home cooked, I would think, would fall into the "wet" category and a can is 15 oz. (425 g). If you do the math, this should give you the amount you need for your dog.

The site also notes:

鈥?Puppies, Pregnant and Nursing Females, require 2 to 3 times the adult amounts.
鈥?A reduction in food intake is recommended for less active and Older Dogs.
鈥?Serve at room temperature.

Hope this information helps and good luck with your dog -- how nice that he has such a kind owner!!
First of all, puppies are sometimes picky, but that does not mean feed them home prepared food. Your growing pup has nutritional needs that you can NOT meet by feeding him home cooked food. You could be doing considerable damage to your dog by feeding him soft (bad for teeth) home cooked (not nutritionally balanced) food.

I recommend putting him on dry Puppy food by Eukanuba for the next six months.then moving him to adult food. The dry food will help keep his newly developing teeth and gums healthy.it will have higher levels of DHA (found in mother's milk) and other ingredients important to puppy development, and will be balanced nutrition for your dog.
