how to clean dog urine on rug floors?

my dog was home alone and had to go to bath room. know one to take her out she went on the rug floor.
Answers:
Use distilled vinigar and water mixture. Wash the carper, let it dry then put a carpet deotorizer on it. The vinigar water will pull the urine and other smell out ot the carpet. It really works!
try some febreeze
Regular cleaning aides and vingegar only kill the smell for humans, but the animals can still smell the urine. Get something with enzymes in it, like Simple Solutions or Nature's Miracle. They sell both at Petsmart.
I use a product from Woolite you can find in many stores(Wal-mart, some grocery stores). It is called PET STAIN AND ODOR REMOVER WITH OXYGEN.
Keep several white(bleachable!) towels around reserved for this purpose- sized according to the size of your dog. Use them as soon as the stain is noticed to blot up all you can. Then spray generously with the Woolite (or some similar store-brand product). Blot this up as completely as possible.
The most important thing is to act quickly. If allowed to soak through to the padding, it is harder to clean adequately as you must apply the product much more thoroughly, and then drying completely is a problem.
There are also products available for use with carpet steam-cleaners you can rent(also at most grocery store, etc.) I know RESOLVE makes one designed for pet stains that works well.

Good Luck!
As soon as the dog pees, put salt on teh spot. Let the salt soak it up and then vacuum. The salt gets all of it out of the carpet %26 takes away the smell %26 its also a lot cheaper than some other stuff out there..
Water first. Wet and dry to area to get up the urine. The pet stores sell good products to get rid of the urine smell. Just be grateful it wasn't a cat- you'd be stuck with the smell forever.
You should put Baking Powder on the urine, and after a while spray a pet stain de-oderizer on it.
GET URINE GONE AT THE STORE IT GETS REID OF THE URINE
I use a product called Basic H2 it works great and isn't harmful to animals or people no toxins at all.
