My boyfriend and I are moving into a new apartment. The landlord wont let us take his dog. Shes a 5 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Since we cant take her with us, we did our best to find her a home. But no luck. My boyfriend called the pound so they can take her, and Im the one who has to give her away. Its hard enough on me, since I already had to give a dog away. How do I help my boyfriend cope with this. He loves her to death. We know they will most likely end up putting her down, since she is so protective of us and doesnt take likely to new people. When my boyfriend got her, she was about 8 months old. The person he got her off used her as a fighting dog. Since then, she has become sweet, loyal and loving. We asked everyone we know and they dont want a dog. We're out of ideas.
Does anyone have any ideas to help us cope with the idea of her getting put down? Or maybe there is someone out there who would like her. We're in the Newcastle area. cute_angel694u@yahoo.com

A Dog is for life not for 5 years and if you really cared that much you'd find a landlord who's dog friendly and move somewhere else!! I'm sorry, i didn't mean to make you feel even worse than you already do but understand that your landlord cannot forcibly move you out without a court order. If he really is that heartless, hit him with this info. Atleast it'll buy you some time to find a half human landlord. Or follow up the suggestions other guys have offered you and get it sorted. You don't want to feel guilty for the rest of your life do you? Good luck
there are places that do not put dogs down. Try and put an advert in the free-ads, classifieds..on the net. Search for a specific Staffy rescue place. They should be able to help you.

sorry to here your bad news ..why not take her to a dogs home i know there is one in Manchester and it takes cats and dogs you have to pay for them to take them and they pick them up .try looking in the yellow pages to see if there is one in your area . the only other solution is find somewhere else to live were you can bring her with you good luck and hope you sort it out ..take care!!
Oh dear, what a terrible situation to be in. Do you have to take the appartment, isn't there any other option, anywhere else you can move to, which allows you to have pets? I have a Staff too, they are like your children.
I will however ask around for you to see if anyone can take her for you.

There are places where you can board your dog and visit every day. I also agree that you should have made sure you rented a place that would allow dogs. Also did you try offering the landlord a deposit in order to keep the dog?

There are many dog rescues that do not put dogs down. they foster dogs in homes to determine their personalities and put them in appropriate homes. It is not necessary to put a dog in a pound that will euthanize him. Look up rescues in your area
I have a 3 yr old male staff, and I know what you mean, i funny leaving him with ppl he dosent know. Do you have any family that she knows that would take her? You could always choose somewhere else to live, Thats another option if you cant bear to leave her.

Obvious question - Have you not thought of getting accommodation through a landlord that allows pets?
There are several dog society's that never put a healthy dog down as per the adverts on TV.
It seems like you have accepted that your dog will be put down and your just waiting for it to happen.
Look around you. There is the Internet, local newspaper adverts, yellow pages, . Ask around a bit more - even tell your local newspaper - we always have interviews and articles in our local rag about people who need to give up a pet and they put a big campaign in the paper to rehouse the animal and they always manage it

Tell the apt manager to take his place and shove it! You can find a place that will accept your WHOLE family. I honestly don't know where Newcastle is, but if its near WA state, I have family that *might* be willing to help out, depending on how he gets on with their dogs. But seriously.. try not to break the family up. Find a different place.
Edit, ok, so I did a search, and you're either in WA or Europe. If you're in WA, that is supposed to be the home court of the pit bull lovers club. go to them, they'll help!
If this was my and my dog, no way. I would not ever move into a place where she was not welcome. Find somewhere elso to live. Please don't have your dog put down.
