how to find the right dog for your liftstyle?

Answers:
Research! Here is a start: http://www.canismajor.com/dog/tchoose.ht.
Do lots and lots and LOTS of research
Research and hang out with your friends pets. Or if you see someone walking a dog in the park ask them what kind it is. Ask that person about its temperament. Visit your local humane society to find breeds that you like. Research diseases or conditions that breed may be prone to. For example large dogs develop hip dysplasia. Go to your local library and check out books about different breeds to start your research. And if you do buy a puppy from a breeder find out their reputation. Because there are puppy breeders out there just to make a buck.

Ask yourself questions..

Are you an outgoing person/family?
What activities do you want to include the dog in.do you want to take it to the kids baseball, soccer, football games? Hiking? Walking? Jogging?
How long are you away from the house for work/school?
How big of a dog do you want? And is there room for him in the house? Do you have a fenced yard?
Is the dog going to be a companion/family member or an outdoor pet?
Do you want an animal that needs little grooming or a lot of grooming?
Is the breed good with kids?
Do you want a puppy or an adult dog? Do you want to adopt/rescue or buy from a breeder?
If you should ever move will the dog be going with you?
Are you willing to keep the dog for its lifetime? Depending on breed that could be 7 to 15 years.
I feel you should let the dog pick you, then you can work around your lifestyle. You should already know not to get a big dog if you travel alot, cause its hard to take them with you. You shouldnt get a furry dog, if you cant clean your house often. You, shouldnt get a small dog if your gonna be away from the house long hours cause their bladders are to small and they will have accidents. I let our dogs chose us, of coarse from the animal shelters, since they will be looking at us for a owner and as someone to love them. We have only had experience with big dog breeds and we've loved all of them. Good Luck finding the right one.
what type of lifestyle, busy , never at home and always working? in an apartment; in a home where you mind if your pet has an accident; for show? or a pet that intermingles with you and whose needs are utmost on your list of priorities? a show piece, a trophy, something to pay attention to once in a while ? If you are having so much thought about lifestyle , perhaps you should hold off on a dog that needs attention , love and training more than just being another piece of the puzzle of your life?
Think about yourself. What kind of person are you?Mellow?Sporty?Do you have alot of time to spend with your dog?Kids?Talk with your vet or a pet breeder, petstore, before you choose a dog.For instance I love cockers, they are lap dogs and very loveable, they are like children. So I knew cockers were right for me.Maybe visit a humane society, look at all the dogs, one will make a marek on your heart!Good luck.
