How can we keep our dogs from digging under the fence and getting loose?

One is a boxer hound mix, other is a hound mix so they both like to track. We don't want to use an electric fence. Any humane suggestions? Thanks!!

My dog used to dig in two different areas. We hammered wood spikes into the ground that that fixed the problem. The dog gave up trying to dig out.
I would suggest training the dogs not to dig.. last resort try an invisible fence.
You could put them on a leash. There are some that are long and let them roam. You also might look into getting an invisible dog fence. We have this for our dogs and it works wonderfully! Once they learn what its all about they don't challenge it much at all. There are different types you can get that beep before they are shocked and it is very humane and they learn very quickly not to go over their boundaries.
i put spikes into the ground about 2 feet and my dog gut stuck while i was at work so i came home and she was screaming i felt really bad cause i didnt know how long she was stuck for but it must have been a long time cause she never dug again after that. while i was takeing her out i was akting like i was mad at her though really i wanted to cry but she had to think i was mad otherwise she might have done it again
the spikes werent so she would get stuck it was so that she would think that no mater how far she digs she cant get out. it just worked diffrent.
Hi digging is hard to cure %26 the only way I have ever seen it stopped is by burying strong fesh under the places they dig at.other than making a concrete path along the edge of the fence.not easy to stop them from digging.Regards Jake
I have also had that problem with my dog. There are two ideas to use. one of the things my dad tried (which my mom and i quickly stopped) was using her fecies and putting it around the fence. she stood clear of it. I recommed NOT to do this, because it's very..not fun. What I'm trying to have my dad do is take chicken wire, staple it to the bottom of the fence (or weave it in with that metal stuff if it's a metal fence) and bury it in the ground around the fence slightly deep so that the dogs don't dig even lower to get through, then put the dirt back on top, and pack it down as hard as you can get it. (makes it harder for dogs to dig) Hopefully it works for you! Best of luck!
do you have your whole yard fenced in? if you do idk what to say but we just have a small area for htem to go outside and poop that we coverd the bottom in cement blocks(not the ones with the holes or couse) so they cant dig and it makes it sooo much easier to clean and you can accually rinse the pee off with the hose.
this happened to my neigbour alot and the dog was tiny, so it used to get out fast and chase us alot! so , the neighbour put a mesh under the fence into the ground, or you could even put spikes so that the dog wont get through and soon just forget about it!
Put an electric fence like they use for cows with extended insulators about four inches off the ground. The dog will only touch it once or twice and not go near the fence again. Go to about any hardware store or better yet a farm store
put rocks at the bottom of the fence all around, it will look pretty and prevent escapes :-)
Put those brick garden boarders around the spots the dog is most susceptible to dig.
