How can you get a doxie to quit tearing up his bedding?

He has chew toys and I give him a rawhide chew when I leave for work each day but he still will tear up the bedding I have for my 3 doxies. He rips up the blanket, putting holes in everything I put down for them to lay on. I know its just him doing it my other 2 doxies I have had for a very long time, hes 1 1/2 yrs old.

Crate traing is the most effective way to stop this. Bitter apple is good too, but there is a produce called Phooey! that is very bitter. It stopped my Jack Russell from tearing things up.
crate him when you leave or you could try spraying everything with bitter apple.
Friendly Hello, We have a Doberman that shreds her bedding and toys. It drives us nuts. I am surprised he has not out grown that being a year and a half. My 6 month bullmastiff puppy use to and now does not. Have you tried the pre made mats that go in the crate? I would try that. Blessings, Kelly
I know there is super tough bedding to get for dogs that is supposed to be "chew-proof" at www.drsfosterandsmith.com. We used carpet in our puppy's crate which he hasn't yet been able to destroy. Otherwise, you might just have to keep him without bedding while you're at work. You wouldn't want to risk him swallowing some bedding and getting an obstruction from it. He seems old enough that he'd be out of the chewing stage though. My dog is almost a year and still chews occasionally, but usually only if I haven't had a time to exercise him. :) Good luck with your pup!
