I am buying a french bulldog puppy. Any advice as to training it?

Answers:
Same as any other dog - lots of patience, lots and lots of praise and depending on the age of your puppy, you can start with very simple obedience commands (at home only - no classes) after the puppy's made himself thoroughly at home and is comfortable with you. Keep any lessons very short, fun and most importantly, use a lot of praise.

Since these dogs can't swim, if your dog is going to be anywhere near water, you need to teach him to stay away from water. Enjoy your puppy!
Training your puppy begins as soon as you bring it home. Don't let him get away with things you don't want him to do as an adult. Don't let the puppy "playbite" you, always direct his teething to a toy. Start housetraining by taking you puppy to the same spot to potty every two hours or more, and keep him on leash in the house until he is housetrained. Do not use physical punishment on a puppy, you have to teach him what you want him to do. Frenchies are prone to breathing problems and overheating, so be careful not to overexert your dog. Also it's very important to start socializing right away. Get the pup used to strange dogs and people so that he is not aggressive as an adult.
If you want to train a dog, dont get a bulldog

Here's a almost should be for house training frenchy. install a doggie door and teach your new puppy to go through it with loves, praise and treats don't hurt. this takes the rough out of house training. Don't give your puppy food scraps at the table and it won't pester you company when you have guest's over. just remember that you can catch more fly's with sugar than sh#%26 anyday. The rest is what you like or not. Good luck! and enjoy your new puppy. :)
There are a bunch of training articles on the net, just yahoo! it. Puppy training classes are also good to enroll in.
