I can drive up to a 2 hr distance if the breeder is in illinois. can anyone help with this. I have been searching the internet for several weeks.

Looks like there are 2 breeders in Park Forest and La Prarie:

I have no idea if these places are within 2 hours, but these are French Bulldog Club of America breeders, which mean that they have a long-lasting, vested interest in the breed. They have signed a Code of Ethics -- located at the bottom of this link: http://www.frenchbulldogclub.org/clubinf. -- and do all of the required genetic testing to produce healthy puppies.
It would be worthwhile to contact them!

Forget the internet. Responsible breeeders don't sell their puppies online. Pet shops sell puppy mill puppies from horrible conditions and careless beeding jsut to make a buck,
