I am looking to buy a pomeranian and I needed a few answers answered.?

first the pomeranian is the runt of the litter, is this okay? Its grey, a little lighter than charcoal. Is this a rare color? Its a male dog which I perfer but they do have females too. Do pomeranians have different behaviors/nature between male and female? Hes just adorable and I have a lot of time on my hands. Are they hard to train? Any thing else you could tell me about them please do and thank you for your advice.
Answers:
There are different types of poms, from show dogs to ordinary pets. I had three, all were cream colored, I have never seen a gray pom. All had different temperaments, from aloof (male) to female who loved everyone. The runt grew to be the beauty of the three. They all lived to old age (12-15) years, with minimal health problems. I had many offers from people wanting to buy one, but no amount of money would make me part with any of them. I loved them all and miss them to this day. One last comment, daily brushing is a must or fur matting will result if neglected, some shedding is expected.
i like to think of small dogs as ankle bitters, lol. but to be honest my bfs gram has 2 of pomeranians. i dont think its a rare color and personally i dont think there hard to train. most animals are like humans in the sense that they have there own personality, so if you have lots of time, i dont see there being a problem since your getting it as a puppy.
yes bein runt of litter is ok poms are very tempermental and tend to yip a bit , no the color isnt that rare..as far as females yes there are female poms.and the male poms are easier to train .. and for the most part if u train them right and curve them from any unwanted behavior u will have a great dog ..they are fun and cuddley and poms tend to stick to the master (owner) and follow u everywhere.hope this helps
Well females stay near the house, but males run away to impregnate females, unless they are nutured. They are no harder or easier to train than any other breed.
They are totally adorable. I am going to get 2-4 of them and breed them
Girls are more fiesty and harder to train. Males are easier to train. Gray is a gorgeous color for a pom. and there are not to many around. THe runt of the litter is awesome he will stay really tiny, thats all. Poms. love carrots, so when you train them you dont have to worry about them getting fat off treats just feed them carrots.
I have dad pom as pets for 32 years and they are great little friends,1 of mine lived till he was17 years they do train well like most dogs once they get the idea what you want it comes quite easy I think males are much easier than females as I have had them both colour's can be just about anything as long as its solid colour not patches, and Ive found that the rut can turn out the bet of all, just remember they have very thin bone kinda like a chihuahua ,grooming 10-20 minute a week it good depending on the coat, the one I have now is 14 and he has just gone on heart tablets one 1/4 a day cos he is so small they can get heart trouble later in life butI think its a small price to pay for all the love and cuddles he will give you which they absolutely love ..happy pomming hope I helped, oh and my dogs dont yapp only when someone comes dogs only yap when lonley or bored keep him inside with you and he will be great
What you're calling charcoal or grey is probably a variation on the blue color (see http://www.americanpomeranianclub.org/co. )

Although it is not as common as some of the other colors, if the breeder you're purchasing from is basing the price on a "rare" color, or the price is different between male and female, drop this person like a bad habit and find a responsible breeder.

More info on the breed:

My impression of the breed is that of an active, intelligent, courageous little dog. The argument of whether a male or female is better could go on forever -- it really depends upon what type of dog you're looking for, and a good breeder should be able to tell you what kind of personality you'll be getting with the puppy you're interested in. Here's a good article on picking a puppy:

Regardless of which sex you choose, please spay or neuter. You will have a happier, healthier pet in the long run!

Good luck!
