Depends on his personality. Is he playful, dominant, or so on let him pick his name. Call him different names that you like and when he hears one he likes he will respond to it. Thats what we did.

Staffy, Ebony, Herman, Joshua,..I pet psychic sense says he wants to be called Joshua..Josh for short.

This is what I have learned over the years about dogs and names for them.
Its questionable but dogs have enough memory to learn 44 words and or syllables. Some dogs seem like they learn more and some learn less.
When you name your dog use a one syllable name that stands out, don't use common words so that when you are out in public they will get confused if some one uses that word around them.
I always get the dog and spend some time around it and the name will just come to me after I get to know them.
Take your time and good luck, its a name you will use all the time and its the only name the dog will most likely have so make it a good one.
