she is showing signs of pregnancy but how can i be sure that this is what it is without taking her to the vets?

How long has it been since she was bred? The pregnancy will last about 63 days. Watch the belly, if it really starts rounding out and the teats start getting heavier, she is most likely pregnant. I know it is harder to tell on ong haired dogs. Some dogs so have a false pregnancy, but the round belly will usually let you know for sure that there are pups on the way. Her milk will start coming in during the last week. I hope everything goes well for you.
Well, think about when her last heat was. Also find out on the net how long dogs are pregnant for. (I think it's about 60 days) then start checking her out: Feel her belly, watch for her digging or "nesting", and I know it sounds sick, but squeeze her *. If they leak white stuff, she's pregnant. And also, is she gaining weight??

If your pet is at least 6 wks. in her pregnancy try standing her on her all fours,and place your hand under her stomach near the back legs.If she is with pups you should be able to feel the hardness of the pups,but be very gentle and don't mash hard.Pups feel like maybe a tennis ball within her stomach.If you can't feel any hard masses,then she isn't with pups.
You really can't tell until they are about 4-5 weeks.and they have puppies in 9 weeks. So to be sure your vet can take a blood test and tell if she is, that way you can get her on vitamins.
